Huawei Unveils Comprehensive Solutions for Building Digital Societies of the Future
Huawei has recently unveiled several all-new products and initiatives ideally suited to help telecom operators, governments, and enterprises step into the fully digital era. Announced through a string of international events and conferences, the ICT leader has set a course for developing emerging technologies including 5G, artificial intelligence (AI), data center computing, and more.
Ryan Ding, Executive Director of the Board and President of Huawei's Carrier BG, unveiled Huawei's latest 5G products and solutions while launching the company’s new 5G Partner Innovation Program. These efforts aim to build a thriving 5G ecosystem and make 5G a commercial success.
So far, Huawei has been awarded 91 commercial 5G contracts, with 5G being developed beyond imagination in terms of deployment, ecosystem, and experience, says Ding. Ding emphasized that in the 5G era, telecom operators can provide differentiated experiences and charge users based on more metrics, including data volume, latency, bandwidth, and number of devices connected. This makes it possible to monetize 5G, and it is critical that operators redefine their 5G business models now.
Ding also launched the Huawei 5G Partner Innovation Program. Through this program, Huawei plans to invest US$20 million into innovative 5G applications over the next 5 years, contributing to a thriving 5G ecosystem and accelerating the commercial success of 5G covering new media, healthcare, education, and much more.
Peng Song, President of Huawei's Carrier BG Marketing and Solution Sales Dept, separately confirmed the release of a cutting-edge Huawei 5G network which is intended to help operators achieve commercial 5G success. In particular, the company unveiled the industry's first deterministic networking oriented 5G core network solution, aimed at delivering a superior service experience to individuals, families, and enterprises.
Looking to the future, Huawei and several industry partners revealed a 5GDN Industry White Paper analyzing of more than 100 applications in over 10 industries showing the requirements of industry digitalization for 5G networks. Separately, Yang Chaobin, President of Huawei 5G Product Line, unveiled Huawei's 10 key enablers of 5G. These offerings are intended to better cater for end users, home users, and industry users to secure business success in the 5G era.
Outside of the 5G domain, Huawei released four star products to meet the needs of a booming global enterprise IT market. According to IDC, IT spending in the Middle East and Africa is set to reach $83.7 billion in 2020, up 2.8% year on year, with enterprises accounting for close to 56.8% of that figure.
The company’s latest enterprise products—including secure battery cells, data transmission devices, intelligent all-flash storage, and stronger Wi-Fi 6 products—have been widely recognized and recommended by third-party organizations. The company’s latest solutions focus on superb performance, ultra-large capacity, ultra-high speed, and ultra-long service life to meet the needs of global customers.
Huawei’s latest innovations are a result of its heavy R&D investment focus. The company has invested over US$100 billion in research over the past 30 years, and is increasing investments in basic research by earmarking 20% to 30% of its annual R&D budget to basic research alone. This has helped the company lead the deployment of 5G technologies globally with more than 700 cities and 228 Fortune Global 500 companies having chosen Huawei as their digital transformation partner.
