Egypt IOM Chief of Mission reinforces the “civic responsibilities of every citizen to become an actor of change”
Mr. Laurent de Boeck, Chief of Mission of the International Organization for Migration in Egypt, joined the “Global Trade Matters International Dialogue on Climate Neutrality” last Monday 25 November 2019. Thisunique event brought together over 200 participants and a distinguished line up of international speakers representing 27 countries and international organizations.
Among several panels, Mr. de Boeck contributed to the discussion on “International Cooperation towards Climate Neutrality” along with high-ranking experts and thought leaders such as Dr. Hossam Allam, Ms. SorayaBahgat and Ms. DorraFiani. The panel gathered years of experience in migration issues, environmental degradation, climate change, education, in addition to gender and women empowerment, to address conclusiveand comprehensiveapproaches to climate action and mitigation required from all sectors of the society.
Mr. de Boeck concluded by reinforcing the civic responsibilities of every citizen to become an actor of change. Moving to handicraft solutions, thus promoting rural areas in fair trade would not only permit avoiding carbon non-neutral products but increase resilience of the poorest in the world.
