Voltalia completes 32-MW “Ra” Solar plant in Egypt
On October 8th 2019 the French renewable power producer Voltalia SA it has completed and plugged in the 32-MW Ra Solar plant in Egypt.
Located in the Aswan region, this project is Voltalia’s first in Africa as a whole. It is part of the Benban cluster of solar parks that is planned to reach 1.8 GW in total capacity.
According to CEO SebastienClerc, Africa is shaping up to be one of Voltalia’s three key regions for achieving its 2023 ambitions. The company currently has contracts in five countries on the continent and, as at end-June 2019, a 1.2-GW project pipeline there.
Ra Solar produces power utilizing its 93,150 Suntech photovoltaic (PV) panels and sells its output to the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) under a 25-year contract.
